ESSENCE: The intrinsic nature or indispensable quality of something that determines its character.
Origin: the Latin essentia, and esse ‘be’.

Take a deliciously long, slow breath in. Feel it fill you to the brim, and slowly let the air go, allowing everything to become soft and formless; savouring a little drop of essence. Your essence. Your nature.

My name is Amanda and Essence Yoga is a home of Yoga and Mindfulness, where I share a little drop of my own essence and hopefully guide you to touch into and nourish yours. Yoga has shown me to take care of, love and go easy on myself, and I humbly wish to share a little of this beautiful path. Come take a look, and gift yourself a moment for pause and calm.

Since 2013 I have been teaching Yin and Yang style classes and Mindfulness courses (MBSR) full time to health-care workers within hospitals and primary health care centres, in-company classes on-site during the working day, and to smaller groups for Yoga as therapy, as well as running workshops and retreats throughout the year, both at home in Spain and abroad.

Apassion for knowledge and self-awareness, and a deep trust in the body’s ability to find balance and heal, infuse my intention to continue sharing yoga with otherswith an integral therapeutic approach; prioritisingself-care and a chance to experiencea deep sense of calm and ease.

London-born, I have lived in Spain since 1995, working previously in the field of international sports communication and translation. Yoga appeared whilst travelling frequently with round-the-world yacht races, originally as a physical channel to manage the demands of the profession, jet lag, physical fatigue and stress.

When I began to discover Yoga, I was attracted to the more ‘yang-style’ practices based on Ashtanga and Vinyasa. Yet as I age, as my body changes, as I learn to listen more deeply to what I most need, I lean towards incorporating longer holds and exploring them within fluid movement, whilst yearning for the the quiet stillness of Yin Yoga, and the grounding practices of Mindfulness.
