A healthy spine requires movement through its full range of motion (forwards, backwards, side to side and twisting), and tucking or tilting the pelvis to affect its curve, to find our balanced and healthy posture.
Our lifestyle today often involves hours in front of a computer, behind the wheel of the car, or slumping on sofas – all leading to shortened tissues at the front of the hips and lower spine area.
Yin yoga softly stresses the connective tissues of the body (ligaments, joints, bones, fascia) with a slower pace and longer holds to stretch deeply into the body and liberate energy on a physical, mental and emotional level.
This soothing yin yoga practice aims to move the amazing structure of our spine through its many different degrees of motion, including postures for the neck, upper and middle spine and lower lumbar region. Soothing our nervous system, the practice encourages the natural flow of energy (Qi) through the body to find balance and a deep sense of well-being.
