Mindfulness and Yin Yoga training Geneva
A 4-week course based on the MBSR (mindfulness-based stress reduction) programme, incorporating the practices of Yin Yoga
A Mindfulness and Yin Yoga course to train awareness and cultivate well-being, reduce stress and find balance on a physical, mental and psycho-emotional level.
Mindfulness can be better understood as a lifestyle choice; choosing to live with greater awareness, and appreciating each moment of our present experience by deliberately placing our attention exactly where we are, here and now, with kindness, curiosity, openness, and acceptance.
Mindfulness is a skill, and our ability to pay attention requires training; gently and gradually practising and incorporating it into our everyday lives.
This four-week course will introduce the practice of Mindfulness and Yin Yoga:
- developing greater awareness of the body and its sensations
- encouraging greater understanding of the nature of the mind
- appreciating how perception influences the experience of reality
- observing, understanding and compassionately accepting the role of emotion
- strengthening the ability to respond rather than react to present moment experiences
- incorporating new tools to manage stress, and communicate mindfully.
The morning mindfulness session is a practical, dynamic and interactive workshop to introduce different aspects of the MBSR training (and its scientifically-proven benefits), with both formal and informal practices, and where the direct experience of participants is an important feature of learning. The afternoon Yin Yoga session will weave these features of mindfulness into a space of stillness and calm, the perfect opportunity to pause, slow down, and look inside.
Over the four weeks, participants will be guided to incorporate these practices into their daily lives, to experiment with different elements of mindfulness and fortify the ability for attention, focus, greater calm and peace of mind at a personal, social and professional level. The programme includes an introduction pack with guided meditations, a general outline of the mindfulness practices and weekly practice sheets.
Training our attention to come back to the present is increasingly necessary to balance the frenetic activity of modern life, busy-ness and the all too common states of chronic fatigue and anxiety.
Besides the obvious physical benefits of learning to calm ourselves, slow down, and really show up for our lives, (essential in life when facing stress, difficulties or pain), we also develop awareness in every area we touch, and to offer our greatest potential to the world; our best self, we need to know ourselves well, and be present to do so, both in our work and activities, and with our families, loved ones and every one we meet.
A compassionate and open observation of the self leads to inner growth and balance, and an understanding of the intrinsic connection between mind, emotion and body, eventually allowing us to juggle all of life’s twists and turns with serenity, efficiency and balance.
Places on this course are limited to a maximum of 15 participants.
